Reflection Questions
1. What is your favorite piece of writing? Why?
My absolute favorite piece of writing would be the division and classification essay. I liked the division and classification paper so much because the topic I choose, I knew fairly well. I didn't struggle much to divide my clients or classify them. It was easy for me as well because I could talk about them in the way that I saw them.
2. What is it you have learned as a writer throughout the year?
I've learned that no matter what kind of paper anyone is writing, there's always going to be a basic format. In the beginning I failed to follow this format and my grades reflected it. As soon as I learned how to follow the format I was golden!
3. What advice would you give to an incoming ENG 101 student to help him/her succeed in this class and in their writing?
I would tell an incoming ENG 101 student when receiving a graded paper, really examine all the mistakes you made. Only because the chances of making the same mistakes on the next paper are extremely high.
4. What do I now understand best about this subject? Least well?
I know that if I learned anything the best it would be prewriting. I am highly confident that if I were given a writing assignment in another class, I would be successful. Prewriting is one of the most important steps in writing a paper, and with a good my paper would just flow through. What I may have not learned so well would be locating parts of another essay. For instance, if I was asked to locate a thesis in a random essay, I would probably fail.
5. What was most satisfying about the class? Most frustrating? What was your responsibility for each?
The most satisfying in the class was choosing my own topic when writing essays. It made it easier to write because I was familiar with the topic. The most frustrating would be, being given a topic. It was the most frustrating because I had no idea what I was talking about and I really needed to do a lot of research.
6. What did you except to learn? What did you actually learn? More or less, and why? How do you feel now at the end?
I learned how to break down every single paragraph in a paper, which is what i was expecting. I wanted writing essays to be easier for me. Going into depth of all the different ways to present an idea has definitely helped me. I feel fair about my writing. I don't have very many difficulties writing an essay now.
7. Compare your accomplishments with what you hoped for and expected at the start. Did you work hard or not? Get a lot done or not? What kinds of things were difficult or frustrating? Which were easy? Why?
I Know I accomplished what I wanted with my writing. I got what I hoped for maybe even a little more. AT first I didn't really work to hard at it, only because I didn't understand. Now that I understand I work very hard and get a lot done. Reading the multiple essays throughout the week were pretty frustrating.
8. Did I do more or less than was expected by my instructor? By me? Why, or why not?
I feel that my instructor always expected more, and I didn't do my best until I got to my last few essays. I think then is when my instructor didn't expect it. I believe at first I didn't do as good as I wanted solely because I wasn't sure how to put my best on paper.
