Personal Narrative
Jessica, an old friend of mine called me one afternoon to ask how I was doing. I found it rather odd that she was calling me, because we hadn’t talked in years. We
conversed for a while, but I felt as if she was holding something back. She
didn’t seem the same. We came upon one question that completely changed the
whole mood of the conversation. I had asked her what was new, and she stopped.
She stopped talking. She didn’t say a word. I could feel silence hovering on the
other end. “You still there?” There was another long pause. She finally brought
herself over the speaker and said softly “I’m pregnant.”
After my conversation with Jessica I found out more and more about her pregnancy. We began to talk everyday for hours. I still wasn’t quite sure why she had called me and opened up so much, on our first time talking in a while. It didn’t make sense to me. I questioned her and tried to investigate her reasons. I was
somewhat incredulous asking myself often “why me?” Of all the people that she
had in her life why would she want me to be the first to know about her
pregnancy? I was having a hard time putting it all together. She tried to avoid
answering directly, but finally she admitted why. She didn’t want to tell anyone
because she was afraid of what they would think of her. She then came to someone
who she trusted. Someone who she knew would never judge her -- me.
Along with having me to talk to she also came to me for answers, but these
were questions that were not for me to answer. Jessica became to question
whether she wanted to keep her child or not and she came to me for the solution.
She was also having issues with her boyfriend, where she was questioning their
relationship as well. It was difficult for me to give her a response because I
didn’t feel comfortable telling someone what to do with their life. I became
frustrated with myself. I didn’t want to come up with a solution for a child
that wasn’t even mine. I also didn’t want to find a way to tell someone to break
up with their boyfriend, a boyfriend who I’ve never even met. My frustration
and irritation grew every time I thought about how I was going to approach her
with the topic. Despite the way I felt, she came to me for guidance and thats
exactly what I was going to do. I told her how I felt about her situation. I
made sure I gave her enough advice to assist her with her decision. In result,
she dumped her pathetic excuse for a boyfriend, and she decided to get an
abortion. After making her decision she asked me to stick around until it was
all over. Of course I did and everything went accordingly.

Compare and Contrast
In a gymnastics competition there are series of events: vault, bars, balance beam and floor exercise. In a cheerleading competition, it’s all one routine that contains tumbling, stunting, jumps and dancing. They are both moderately similar with slight differences. Gymnasts tend to be very flexible and are strong like cheerleaders. Cheerleaders need to be flexible enough to pull their leg above their head while being held up in the air. It also takes a great deal of strength to lift someone with their arms extended above their head. In gymnastic competitions, there is also an event that is called floor exercise that usually consists of a dance and some tumbling. Floor exercises are fairly alike to a cheer competition routine, as there's dancing and tumbling just like cheer. The only thing that cheer has that makes it different is that its a whole team is on the mat and they’re adding in stunts and a few cheers.
Gymnastics of course, isn’t the easiest sport to train for. Training for a gymnastics competition takes a lot of hard work and dedication. There always needs to be a high amount of body control and confidence to advance in gym. It is also a one person sport, therefore, they don’t need to rely on anyone else to achieve goals that they set. As well as cheerleading, however, the way cheerleaders train is somewhat different to gymnastics. For the most part, cheerleaders train
together. When cheerleaders train it’s more of a team effort rather than just
one person training alone. Training as a team tends to make the group push each
other. In cheerleading it’s more difficult to work on achieving a specific goal.
It’s a team effort, and if one doesn’t do their job it brings down the whole
team. Again, they don’t need to rely on anyone else while competing. Scores are
only given to one person. Gym competitions are definitely intimidating. When
competing as a whole team in cheer, it’s a little less intimidating but its a
lot more pressure.

Division and Classification
My very first negative interaction with a client was within the first week working there. Of course I was the lucky one and stood in the lobby for about two centuries with a talker. How I survived is still unknown. A talker is a different kind of species. These are also the type of clients that I try and be really short with, though it actually never works out that way, but it’s always worth a try. They can surprisingly talk for about five hours without breathing. They ask question after question and expect you to know the answer to every single one. With a talker you need to give them an answer right after they’re done talking. If you don’t they will start talking again before you could even begin. Talkers are by far the most annoying. The best part is that they could ramble on about their pet for days and they do, all the time. The best advice to give is as soon as you realize you have a talker among you, listen closely to everything they say. For when they come back for pick up, they’ll quiz you harder than your eighth grade math teacher did. I feel that they do it with great intentions of making sure you did exactly what they asked.
The farthest from a talker would lead me to the oddest of them all, a looker. Lookers are hands down the most awkward people that walk this planet. They don’t talk very much, in fact, they hardly talk at all. You’d be lucky to get more than a sentence out of them. Lookers also have a secret power of making one feel very out of place. These types of clients, are the ones to make someone insecure of the things they know best about. While one is talking, a looker will use their secret power, using their body language to break you and eyes to destroy every bit of confidence. When I finally became confident in my job, I walked around the hospital with my chest out and my head held high. I knew about everything that needed to be known. My confidence was demolished when I was confronted with the sassiest looker that ever set foot on this earth. I stood there trying to ask a simple question about a client's dog, but of course, he didn't say a word for the first five minutes. He leaned slightly hunched over, with one arm against the counter and the other on his hip. This man looked at me like I had no idea what I was talking about. He had a mean glare, almost as if he could see right through me. He responded to me about four times, three out of the four responses started with, “And you’re sure of this?” I honestly believe to this very day that this client thought he knew my job better than I did. Two things about a looker that should always be remembered is, don’t fall for the eyes. If your client is staring at you, right in your eyes, stare right back; most importantly, don’t be intimidated. If you happen to be somewhat intimidated, play it off, it’ll only be for a few minutes. After all you’re most likely going to end the conversation anyway.
Last, but not least, you have your inbetweeners. Inbetweeners are what I consider to be a little odd. They are the closest to normal, but still slightly off. Inbetweeners are the perfect mixture of a talker and a looker. Inbetweeners have the tendency to ask questions like a talker would, yet listen to you and stare while they think of something else to ask. I've taken a stance that inbetweeners are the “blondes” of clients. They are the kind of owners who seem to know nothing about their pet. They really like to ask obvious questions. They also like to agree with whatever you say. When talking to an inbetweener, you could make the most random comment and they’d agree. An inbetweener is more of a mild looker. They don’t look at you to make you feel insecure about your job, they look with confusion. The one thing that a kennel attendant should know about inbetweeners, is that they’re quiet when they want to be, and they talk at random. A looker is what a kennel attendant hopes to get. They give us that little bit of confidence that we need at the end of a day. They also ask simple and easy questions, there’s no reason to ever feel uncomfortable, and they’re what makes my kind of job effortless.

Casual Analysis
Not very many seniors that I know like to be tardy. One of the outcomes of waking up late is being tardy to school. On an honest note, there is no benefit from sleeping in, other than getting another hour of sleep. Don’t get me wrong, I love sleeping. Sleeping in gives me that little boost of energy I need every once in awhile. However, what help does one get from sleeping in, if you get to school late and then get behind in schoolwork? Walking into class late does two things, it shows your peers you are lazy and also shows your teacher you are not motivated. Overall, nothing good comes from being late. Being late makes you look lazy and you also could fall behind in the class.
When you are late not only does your image suffer, your reputation also suffers. Most seniors try to keep their reputation at a pinnacle. It’s not necessarily inspiring to be looked at by fellow classmates as a procrastinator. Sometimes crazy teachers like to create group projects and when your fellow classmates see you late to school every so often, they decide that they’d prefer not to deal with someone who is lazy. Whether you’re a lazy student or not, students can change their mind about someone in a heartbeat. Waking up late can have some kind of impacts on how your peers see you, in both a big and small way.
One of the worst effects from waking up late, in my opinion, and I’m sure in any other teenage girl’s opinion, is waking up late and not having enough time to “doll” yourself up. Three years ago when I was a freshman, I always scoped out all the seniors and envied their perfection. Now that I’m a senior, I always feel that appearance is extremely important. It’s important for oneself because if you look good, you feel good. Performance in class is greatly affected by confidence, and there’s no confidence if someone is self-conscious about their outfit. It’s also highly important for all the underclassmen who look up to the seniors. How would you feel if a freshman commented on your perfect hair every single day and the one day you woke up late, you didn't have enough time to do it, she doesn't say a word to you? You’d feel terrible. You wouldn't feel like you’re at the top of the food chain anymore. Seniors should always look their best because they have an image to hold, and it’s strikingly important that they hold it.

Argumentative
Models in America are a great highlight to what women want -- perfection. Women see these models in magazines and envy their flawlessness. They want to have the “perfect” body and the “perfect” face, and to them cosmetic surgery is the answer. Although, there are valuable reasons why people get plastic surgery, this operation is often abused. Plastic surgery is used for reasons such as to help people with cancer.”Your plastic surgeon can surgically remove cancerous and other skin lesions using specialized techniques to preserve your health and your appearance”( “Skin Cancer and Your Plastic Surgeon”). However, when reality is faced cosmetic surgery isn't the answer to perfection. These issues of jealousy should be addressed in another way.
Can cosmetic surgery last a lifetime? Sure, cosmetic surgery will last a lifetime under one, two or three or maybe even six conditions. One of the most popular cosmetic procedures is a face lift because of course, who would want a few wrinkles on their face? After three weeks of healing from a face lift there are a few precautions that need to be taken note of to keep all the pulled skin looking young. To keep a face lift looking good, you need to make sure you’re eating healthy, watching your weight, keeping your skin hydrated, making sure your face doesn't catch a lot of sun, and also no smoking. For the women who don’t do this, they end up getting a second 8,000 dollar surgery, in about three to five years. Today women see this as no big deal, but in fact, this is an issue. Spending this amount of money on a few surgeries can result in debt.
It is no secret that cosmetic surgery is not cheap. Cosmetic surgery is very expensive, from botox to breast implants the cost varies from 6,000 to 10,000 dollars (www.Infoplasticsurgery). Now is all that money for a plump face really worth it? Women may argue and say “yes, it is.” Women would rather want to be under thousands of dollars of debt and be “happy” with something that will possibly sag in a few years, than spend their money on something a little more valuable. Celebrities spend this type of money almost everyday, but for an average Joe, spending money like that could result in serious debt. A man by the name of Stephen Fode, confessed about his obsession with cosmetic surgery. He is now under 125,000 dollars of debt in 12 years of procedures (Adato). Fode is only one of many who go under the knife and get multiple procedures done because one wasn't enough to look “perfect”. Many should understand that when dealing with an insecurity issue or beauty issue, cosmetic surgery isn’t the answer.
Many will also agree to a surgery that could make them look young again, not knowing what possible harm it can cause the body. Though plastic surgery can help those who need it, it can also cause severe damage to the nerves in the area of where the procedure was done. In most cases, nerve damage is most likely to occur when a nerve is cut, stretched, or cauterized. For example, when getting an eyelid lift, if gone wrong it can damage the optic nerve which can result in blindness (Odunze). Most people don’t realize what they put on the line when undergoing cosmetic surgery, in this particular situation one’s vision could be lost.
